Samothrace
Samothrace...the "Holy Island" as it was called in ancient times. Mount Saos, which dominates the island with an altitude of 1448 meters, is the highest of all the islands of the Aegean Sea. Samothrace, apart from its important archaeological findings, has a wild natural beauty with many pristine beaches, running waters and waterfalls in dense forests.
The capital of the island is Chora, built on the slopes of Saos with traditional houses and its port is Kamariotissa with considerable tourist traffic. The stream of Fonias and the Graia Vathra are among the natural attractions that every visitor admires.
The most famous beaches of the island with crystal clear waters are Pachia Ammos, Vatos beach and the beach of Kipou. In Samothrace it is worth trying goat on the spit, spicy gruyere, honey flowers, and haslama (syrupy sweet).
